KoalaThe Koala is like a cuddly toy come to life. It is quite small, weighing only five to eight kilograms in its adult state. When first born it lives in its mothers pouch for six months, after which it is carried on her back till half grown. This heavy load does not deter the mothers from climbing to the top of gum trees to gather leaves and flowers to eat.

KangarooKangaroos have become the best known of all the Australian marsupials, with their peculiar shape and size. The most common species you are likely to come across are the Red Kangaroo and the Great Grey Kangaroo. When kangaroos are in motion, they cover five to eleven metres at a jump.

PenguinConfined to the southern hemisphere, penguins belong to the flightless bird family and are the most marine of all birds. Penguins can swim underwater faster than seals and have webbed feet, while their wings are reduced to form strong flippers. Ashore they walk with an awkward waddle which makes them very entertaining to watch. Penguins nest in large colonies, with the male taking on a large role in rearing the young.

CrocodileThe crocodile is a highly developed present day reptile, as well as being the closest living animal on earth related to the preastoric reptiles. One of the most amazing features of the crocodile is the protective covering of bony plates which are neither fused nor joined to the underlying skeleton, allowing the crocodile to move with surprising speed. Well equipped for predatory life, the crocodile has strong large jaws and very powerful teeth.
